The Department of Social Welfare and Development released a total amount of PHP151, 197,300 for 34,741 beneficiaries of the Cash-for-Work Program for Persons with Disabilities in Region VI in December last year. The Cash-for-Work program dubbed as Buhay at Bayanihan para sa Mamamayan (BBM), Cash for Work Program for Persons with Disabilities handog ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is designed to provide temporary jobs to Persons with Disabilities in exchange for community works. The province of Negros Occidental had taken a bigger chunk of the pie for the cash-for-work program which amounted to more than PHP55.9 million. The amount covered the wages of 12,905 workers.
The province of Iloilo followed with over PHP45.9 million with 10,620 workers. The province of Antique got a share of over PHP17.6 million. It has benefitted 3,916 workers. The province of Capiz has a share of more than PHP11.8 million. The amount covered the wages of 2,633 workers. The province of Aklan has a share of more than PHP11 million for its 2,453 workers.
On the other hand, Iloilo City has a share of more than PHP3.5 million. It has benefitted 787 individuals. The province of Guimaras has a share of more than PHP2.6 million for its 598 workers.
Bacolod City has also a total share of over PHP2.5 million for its 559 workers. The Buhay at Bayanihan para sa Mamamayan (BBM), Cash for Work Program for Persons with Disabilities was implemented by KALAHI-CIDSS (Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services) in December 2022.
Each worker received PHP450 daily wages for 10 days in exchange for community works such as gardening, road clearing, public plaza, and lantern making.
The CFW-PWD is implemented in 133 areas including cities and municipalities in Western Visayas.
