MADALAG, Aklan – A beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) ranked third in the November 2021 Midwife Licensure Examination based on the result released yesterday.
Marie Joy Christhel N. Nacor of Brgy. Guinatu-an, Madalag, Aklan was one of the four graduates of Iloilo Doctor’s College (IDC) who are among the Top 10 successful examinees.
Marie Joy’s family was a 4Ps beneficiary for eight years where she and her eldest brother were both monitored children by the program. Three years ago, the family already graduated from the 4Ps since the siblings have reached 18 years of age.
The source of income of the family is a small vegetable farm where they get their income for their basic needs but the meager earning
is not enough to sustain their daily school expenses.
The family is thankful when they were included in the 4Ps program. The cash grants they received helped augment their daily expenses.
“Daku gid ang nabulig sang 4Ps sa amon adlaw-adlaw nga galastuhon ilabi na gid sa amon pagkaon kag pag eskwela (The 4Ps helped us a lot in our daily expenses especially for food and school,” she said.
Marie Joy said after she graduated from senior high school, she applied for the scholarship program of the Department of Health (DOH) offering midwifery course while her brother was also a scholar of the Expanded Student Grand-in-Aid Program for Poverty Alleviation (ESGP-PA) of the Commission of Higher Education (CHED) taking-up a course on Forestry.
“Naka graduate man kami sa programa pero gin-grab kag gin-value gid namon ang tanan nga opportunities nga nag-abot sa amon. Salamat sa tanan nga government agencies nga naging taytay sa amon mga handum kag kadalag-an (We may have already graduated from the program but we grabbed and valued the opportunities that came our way. Thank you to all government agencies that served as the bridge toward our dream and success,” she added.
Marie Joy has finished her two-year course in Diploma in Midwifery where she took the November board examination. She will be graduating next year after proceeding with another two-year course for Bachelor of Science in Midwifery.//
