LIBERTAD, Antique – In celebration of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed family food packs to 252 IPs belo  ng to Bukidnon-Iraynon in Brgy. San Roque in this town.
Most of the families living in this IPs community rely on fishing, farming, and selling native products as their main source of livelihood.
“We are very thankful to our government for attending to our needs especially now that life gets harder due to this pandemic,” said 37-year-old Maricel Cabus, one of the IP beneficiaries.
On her part, Mayor Mary Jean N. Te expressed her gratitude to the national government and the DSWD 6 for the fast response to our request to provide food aid to the COVID-affected IP communities in their municipality.
“We want to make sure the IP communities are not left behind and the government is always here to provide services for them,” the mayor said.
Also present during the distribution are Vice Mayor Jeolito D. Mateo, MSWDO Ma. Berlyn Rose T. Abat, Punong Barangay Jimmy Roberto, LGU staff, and DSWD regional representatives.
