ILOILO – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI released a total of ₱5.5 million worth of Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to 1, 100 beneficiaries from four towns in the 2nd district of Iloilo province.

These beneficiaries belong to the informal sector mostly engaged and worked in small businesses or enterprises whose livelihoods were affected by the implementation of the community quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Also, graduated households of the Pantawi    Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were also identified as one of the beneficiaries.
Yesterday, DSWD Assistant Secretary for the Visayas Victor Neri personally visited and graced the simultaneous payouts in four towns of Zarraga, Sta. Barbara, Leon, and Alimodian.
Asec. Neri emphasized the importance of livelihood assistance in uplifting the beneficiaries’ financial capacity amidst the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Samantha Dela Peña, staff from the Office of Senator Bong Go, provided a short overview of the current services facilitated by their office. They also distributed bikes, computer tablets, and sports shoes to several beneficiaries through a raffle draw.
LAG is one of the recovery and rehabilitation programs of the government to serve families whose livelihoods were affected due to the quarantine measures. Qualified beneficiaries are provided with financial assistance which prioritized households with low incomes or whose small businesses have been affected by the pandemic./
