The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI lead the turnover ceremony of the 500,000 face masks for the “Libreng Mask Para Sa Masa” last February 9, 2021 in Jaro Gym, Iloilo City.
The “Libreng Mask Para Sa Masa” was in accordance to Memorandum No. 49 issued by the Office of the President directing all government agencies to coordinate and pool their resources and efforts into the production and distribution of face masks which will be distributed to the public free of charge.
The agencies involved in the project are Department of Helath (DOH), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Presidential Management Staff (PMS), and the DSWD.
DSWD’s role is to utilize its network and facilities for the identification of and distribution to the priority beneficiaries of the face masks, such as those who are poor and differently abled, including partner beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) among others.
Besides the 500,000 free face masks turned over to barangays in Iloilo City, DSWD also released 2 million pesos worth of financial assistance to the youth sector present in the activity.
