STATEMENT OF SECRETARY ROLANDO JOSELITO D. BAUTISTA
LABOR DAY CELEBRATION
MAY 1, 2020

On behalf of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), I would like to extend a meaningful labor day celebration greetings to all fellow public servants, most especially to the DSWD workforce.

Today, we pay tribute to the contributions of all DSWD workers in enabling our partners in social welfare development; in protecting the rights and interests of the poor, vulnerable and marginalized; and in providing the necessary assistance to the most in need.

We give our salute to the “angels in red vests” who have painstakingly braved the threats of COVID-19 to help the vulnerable members of the society. We express our admiration likewise to them for their unequaled sacrifices and dedicated service so others may survive the crisis. Their hard work is truly admirable and worthy of emulation.

It is my most fervent hope that our “angels in red vests remain steadfast in providing unequalled service to our clients and beneficiaries. In this digital age where technology and electronic infrastructures have replaced most human capital, nothing replaces the compassion and dedication to service of the DSWD workforce.

Let me end my message with what former USA President Theodore Roosevelt once said,
It is only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we
move on to better things.” Indeed, through our sacrifices and compassionate service, our
nation will heal and triumphantly rise as one.

Mabuhay ang manggagawang Pilipino! Mabuhay ang mga kawani ng DSWD!
