The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI has a new regional director.

Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre, who comes from DSWD Region 7, is taking over the social welfare’s office in Western Visayas.

Macapobre is replacing outgoing regional director Rebecca P. Geamala who is bound to take over the post of the former in Cebu.

Special Order 20 dated issued on January 4, 2019 by Secretary Rolando Bautista is effective January 7, 2019.

This appears to be a return for Macapobre because she has led the agency in years 2013 to 2016.

Recently, she was adjudged as Outstanding Social Worker by PASWI

During her stint, she led the office in relief and rehabilitation efforts particularly when the strongest typhoon Yolanda hit the region.

Although away from her family, she served with passion and commitment by leading the team of Ilonggo workers in bringing positive changes to the lives of the poor and vulnerable sectors whom they served.

Geamala

Geamala, an Ilongga, started leading the region in 2016. In her stint, she led the relief and response operations during the Boracay Island Closure in Aklan Province.

She has chaired the Social Development Council since 2016.

Since 2016, she led her team in achieving outstanding performance, served as chair of the Social Development Committee (SDC) and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Chairperson for Response Cluster. Also, she was recognized to have significantly supported the hosting of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) conferences./dswd6.mrc
