THE head of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 today called on new social work board passers to “be a blessing to others.”
Rebecca P. Geamala, regional director, was one of the guests during the oath taking ceremony early today at Casa Real, Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
“Look around and see the people around you. You should be a blessing to them,” she said.
The oath taking was administered by Blesilda Masangcay of the Professional Regulations Commission.
Also present were Dr. Neneth Pador, Philippine Association of Social Workers Incorporated President; Vice chair Joel Galicia, and Iloilo Province’ Chief of Staff, Atty. Suzette Mamon.
Geamala also informed the new social workers of the ethical standards for government employees:

• Professionalism
• Justness and sincerity
• Political neutrality
• Commitment to democracy
• Live simply
Geamala also revealed that she is supporting her staff in their endeavor for advanced studies.
“We will be retiring someday. We want the others to be prepared and become leaders also,” she said./dswd6
