BURUANGA, Aklan – “Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential,” John Maxwell.
Knowing and believing in your own potential can be part of your journey to be successful. If you start to believe in yourself and your potential, you can become more motivated to prove yourself. When you think your potentials are not enough, just focus on the reasons why you want to achieve your goals.
These words always motivate Ivy Pida, 17, to become a better version of herself.
At a young age, Ivy experienced different harsh criticism in school, but despite everything, she continues to reach her goals, not only for herself but also for her family.
Of all the things that we spend time with, learning is arguably one of the most important. It contributes to our knowledge of everything around and within us, makes us better people, and therefore the world a better place to live in, “ Ivy said.
“As a person, we experienced some challenges, problems, trials to give us lessons and to be brave. I was a young girl in this challenging world. I experienced discouragement from the people around me. There is a scenario that I received an award, someone says you’re not even that genius compared to my friend, that time I feel down and discourage,” she added.
Ivy said being a student she experienced some difficulties and lack of time. Difficulties when she can’t do my projects and assignments on time. Ivy added that she was a volleyball player in school sometimes she cannot attend her class anymore because of practice. So it’s too hard for her to catch some lessons.
“It’s not easy being student, there are so many projects, quizzes exams and many other tasks that we should comply with but once we finished it we can say it’s all worth it. There is a saying I remember: There is no elevator to success,” she said.
Presently, Ivy is studying at Garcia College of Technology, Kalibo Aklan, taking Bachelor of Accountancy. Someday, she wishes to become successful, and all of her sacrifices will be rewarded. Her wish is not only for herself, but also for her parents who unconditionally love her, and support her journey all the way.
THANKFUL TO 4Ps
Their family has been a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Since Ivy is a consistent honor student since elementary days, she represents the Municipality of Buruanga in the Search for Exemplary Child in 2015, while their family was also chosen as Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya to represent their municipality in 2017.
Ivy says their family is grateful for being a beneficiary of this program and it’s a kind blessing. Pantawid Program helps them to increase their budget in everyday expenses, just like groceries and vitamins. In addition, the Pantawid Program helps to sustain her needs as a student.
“Pantawid Pamilya Pilipinong Program (4P’s) is a great help to Filipino people especially to those like us who are considered poor and marginalized family in our community. I think that this program is one of the successful projects of the government. There is a poor household in the community like us, that through the help of 4Ps we are able to survive most especially on school expenses,” she elaborated.
When asked what would be her message to her fellow 4Ps students, Ivy said that they should not stop in just one definition, learn and learn and learn. Every chapter of their life there will always be new things to learn. Every trial that they should encounter, they should face it and never ever lost hope, use this as inspiration in everything we do.
The battle is not yet over, it’s just started it. Think positive on behalf of difficulties. Just like math in every problem there will always formula to solve those problems. Always remember that God never gave us trials in life that we cannot overcome,” she ended.// Edzel Trinidad, ML Buruanga, Aklan POO)
