The Department of Social Welfare and Development is targeting 8,000 workers for its cash for work program in Boracay.

DSWD FO-6 Disaster Response and Management Division Chief Luna Moscoso said they have targeted 8,000 workers or individuals for its cash for work program in the island.

Under the cash for work program, each worker will receive P323.50 daily wage. It will last for 30 days.

The cash for work program is purposely designed to augment the daily income of residents from Barangays Balabag, Yapak and Manoc-manoc, meantime that the island is closed for tourism operations, said Moscoso.

It will cover clean-up, dredging, revegetation enhancement, site preparation and planting of mangroves in wetland areas in the island.

The cash for work program will commence once the local government of Malay has completed its final list using the Disaster Assistance Family Access Card of the social welfare department, said Moscoso. #
