“Not too old to work for a living. Together they weaved mats as their pass time but later will be an extra income.”

We are all inspired to witness the two of our indigent senior citizen beneficiaries in the name of Lola Gonzaga C. Francisco and Lola Adelaida Delos Santos during our 3rd quarter payout in Caluya, Antique on August 24-28, 2016 as they weaved ”banig mats” made of abaca. Single size of banig is worth 150 pesos and family size is 300 pesos – worth to buy and make it as pasalubong to our friends.

Barangay Sibolo, Antique has a total of 15 beneficiaries (5 benes from Liwagao islet and 10 from Sibolo islet). Most of the beneficiaries are sickly and frail. In Liwagao there is no source of drinking water. Their supply of water come from Bulalacao, Mindoro Island which is approximately 30 minutes away from Liwagao. Hunger and starvation is rampant during typhoon seasons. Seaweed-planting, farming and fishing are among their source of income. Their homes are made of bamboo and “tagpi-tagping mga materyales” which could not endure the heavy rains or the strong winds to keep them safe and warm. /FelixGervacioJrHarrietteYatar
