Out of the 252, 584 households identified as poor in Western Visayas; 128,498 households are identified in Iloilo; 43,147 in Antique; 41, 764 in Capiz; 29,915 in Aklan; and 9,260 in Guimaras.
DSWD 6 regional director Rebecca P. Geamala said that the result of the 2015 National Household Targeting Unit (NHTU) or the Listahanan program in the region will be the basis of the stakeholders for identifying the programs and services for the poor.
During the launching rite, Geamala revealed the regional profile of the poor in Western Visayas which contains the magnitude of the poor household by province; the magnitude of poor living in Urban and Rural Areas; by water sources, electricity and toilet facilities; poor individuals by sectors and by primary occupation.
Geamala said that these data will be given to other government line agencies, local government units (LGUs) as well as non-government organizations to help them come up with programs and services that can help the poor.
But she said a signed memorandum of agreement is needed to get the names and addresses of poor households./dswd6/Merry Jezzel Brendia
