THEY used to be unemployed. Now, they work as call center agents.
Life for 10 Negrense took a twist recently when they landed jobs as Customer Service Representatives of Panasiatic Solutions, Incorporated, Teleperformance Incorporated and Telequest Incorporated.
They were identified as Mary Ann Apdo, 18 years old, of Minoyan, Valladolid; Desiree Barot, 22, of Minoyan, Murcia; Imee Joy Canonicato, 20, of Blumentritt, Murcia; Mirazel Celiz, 19, of Pandanon, Murcia; Trecia Dublin, 21, Blumentritt, Murcia; Charlene Enabe, 19, of Damalte, Murcia; Cheryl Evangelio, 21, of Minoyan, Murcia; Rachel Guzado, 26, of Blumentritt, Murcia; Donna Mae Jaena, 22, of Blumentritt, Murcia; Rodel Samonte, 18, of Abu-abo, Murcia.
“I’m already helping my family. I’m already helping myself,” said Mary Ann Apdo who works for Panasiatic Solutions in Bacolod City.
Canonicato, Dublin, Evangelio, Guzado and Samonte have reached college level while the rest finished high school.
They underwent the Livelihood Skills Training in Finishing Course for Call Center Agents funded by the national government implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Develoment (DSWD) Field Office VI under the Sustainable Livelihood Program.
VMA Global College was tapped to train them, who mostly come from families covered by Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
“We implement the convergence strategy to achieve maximum results. Pantawid beneficiaries are also prioritized for sustainable livelihood program,” said Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre, regionaldirector of DSWD.
According to Duriza Oropesa, Project Development Officer, the beneficiaries are now employed and are earning P9,000 to P10,000 per month.
“The work enabled them to buy their personal needs, augment the income of their families, and buy gadgets needed for their work along communication,” said Oropesa./dswd6/May Grecia-Rago
