ILOILO CITY — MORE than 5,000 family-beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program trooped to the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand in Iloilo City on Sunday, September 28, 2014 in celebration of the Pantawid Pamilya Family Day and Convergence Caravan.
The beneficiaries came from the six districts of Iloilo City – Molo, Mandurriao, La Paz, Jaro, City Proper and Arevalo.
Data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD6) shows that there are more than 11,000 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries to date.
Iloilo City was also the pilot area of Pantawid Pamilya way back in 2008.
Present during the big event were DSWD Assistant Secretary Camilo G. Gudmalin, DSWD6 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre, Assistant Regional Director Joel P. Galicia, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, Dr. Eden Deriada of the Department of Education, Dr. Ma. Sophia Pulmones of the Department of Health, and Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Officer Alfredo Villanueva.
Asec. Gudmalin led the recognition of model Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries during the event. Awarded were the family of Ruby Gomugda of Jaro, Iloilo City who was named finalist during the 2014 Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya; and Marianne Rose Abang and Bernard Lipata, grand winners in the Iloilo City and Provincial levels respectively in the 2014 Search for Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Children.
Also joining the event were representatives from the Iloilo Provincial Social Welfare and
Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)./dswd6/Alma J. Estember
