THE nationwide search for exemplary children who are covered by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is now ongoing.
Joel P. Galicia, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 (DSWD6), said the Search aims to recognize children aged 10 to 14 years old who are not only compliant to the conditions of Pantawid Pamilya but also serve excellent examples in their households, schools and communities.
“In Region VI, this Search for Exemplary Pantawid Pamilya Children is being conducted in all six provinces and highly-urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod. The city and provincial winners will then be competing in the regional level contest in October in time for the Children’s Month celebration,” said Galicia.
Eligible children are those covered by Pantawid Pamilya for at least one year; having at least 90% school attendance from School Year 2012-2013; with good scholastic standing; active in co- and extra-curricular activities; talented; and with good moral character.
Galicia said the “Exemplary Child” will be joining DSWD’s advocacy efforts with the theme, “Kaya Ko ang Pagbabago” – to give face to the positive changes that he/she and his/her family gained because of Pantawid Pamilya.
The top three winners in the provincial-level search will receive cash prizes and certificates.
In the regional-level competition, the top three winners will get a chance to join the Kaya Ko ang Pagbabago National Children’s Congress in Manila in October on top of their cash prizes and plaques. (DSWD6/ Alma Jornadal-Estember)
