The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development had released a total of P13,077,600.00 to at least 11 municipalities in the province of Capiz for the beneficiaries of the Social Pension and Supplementary Feeding programs during the Ombudsman Caravan of Government Services held in the town of Maayon recently.

The municipalities of Cuartero, Dao, Dumarao, Maayon, Panit-an, and Pontevedrareceived P12,000.00 worth of checks each for the stipend of the indigent senior citizens in their areas with a total of P72,000.00. On the other hand, Mambusao (P1,372,800.00), Dumalag (P822,000.00), Dao (P990,000.00), Sapian (P1,170,000.00), Cuartero (908,400.00), Sigma ((P1,030,800.00), Maayon (P1,791,600.00), Panit-an (1,197,600.00), Ivisan (P883,200.00), Panay (P1,376,400.00) and Dumarao (P1,462,800) also got separate checks for the implementation of the Supplementary Feeding in their day care centers totalling to P13,005,600.00.

The released checks will benefit 13,289 day care children in the 11 municipalities where the Supplementary Feeding is implemented while 48 social pensioners aged 77 years and above will receive their monthly stipend of P500 per month.

Maayon Mayor Wilfredo Borresexpressed his gratitude to DSWD for the “big help” and other government agencies that participated in the caravan because many of his constituents were able to avail of the services without spending money and effort in going to their offices.

During the activity, the different government agencies that participated have put up Help Desks where the public can go if they want to avail of the services or inquire about the programs and projects they are implementing.

Meanwhile, Capiz governor Victor Tanco Sr. likewise thanked all government agencies for coming to their province and “making your presence felt by the Capiznons.”

“This is one indication that you, the people are our bosses. We are the ones serving you. All the agencies of the government are here to serve you,” the governor emphasized.

The Caravan of Government Services is a yearly activity being spearheaded by the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas in the aim to bring the National Government closer to the people. It is participated in by the different national government agencies like the DSWD./WennaBerondo-Bendol
