Another KALAHI-CIDSS funded road concreting project begins in Sibunag, Guimaras
The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI CIDSS) Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI holds a groundbreaking ceremony in Barangay Tanglad to mark the beginning of its third road concreting subproject in Sibunag, Guimaras in the year 2025.
The Php4.99 million road project will pave a 450-meter stretch connecting Sitio Ilawod I to Sitio Ilawod II, directly benefiting 204 households. Of the total project cost, Php4,681,700 comes from the KALAHI CIDSS grant, while the municipal government of Sibunag contributes Php197,300 and the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU)of Tanglad contributes Php120,000 as their local counterpart.
“Because of KALAHI-CIDSS’ noble projects, our municipality has made significant progress,” says newly elected Sibunag Mayor Honorable Luben Vilches.
The road concreting initiative was identified as the barangay’s top priority due to the poor condition of the existing road, which becomes dusty on dry days and muddy on rainy days which made transportation especially difficult for residents of Sitio Ilawod I and II.
A key factor in the project’s prioritization was the completeness of the required documents, including the deeds of lot donation.
This subproject is made possible through the combined efforts of generous lot donors Cristina G. Cabreros, Conchita Galanto, Engineer Almina L. Gange, and Eva Garvilles, along with the support from the KALAHI-CIDSS grant, local government contributions, the guidance of KALAHI-CIDSS staff, and the commitment of community volunteers.
“This project is a testament to the power of collaboration. Together, we bring this vision to life, and I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to those who shared their time, expertise, and resources to bring us to this stage of implementation,” says Barangay Tanglad Captain Charle Gallano.
The groundbreaking ceremony is attended by Mayor Luben Vilches, Vice Mayor Reynaldo Segovia, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, representatives from the Municipal Development Council Technical Working Group (MDC-TWG), Barangay Tanglad officials led by the Barangay Captain, KALAHI-CIDSS staff, and community volunteers./dswd6/cdf
