
DSWD-6 honors 35 Media Partners across the region
ILOILO City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI recognized 35 media partners as Social Protection Champions during the Media Pasasalamat Awarding Night held yesterday in Iloilo City.
The awardees were acknowledged as the 2024 Most Supportive Media Outlets and Individuals for their exceptional contributions to promoting the department’s social protection and advocacy initiatives.
Among the group awardees for the Most Supportive Media Partners for Radio Station were Radyo Pilipinas, GMA Super Radyo DYSI; RMN Iloilo; K5 News FM Antique; K5 News FM Iloilo; Radyo Todo Aklan 88.5 FM; and Bombo Radyo Iloilo.
For the Online Platform category, awardees included the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-6’s Iloilo, Capiz, Antique, Aklan, and Negros Information Centers, the Philippine News Agency (PNA) – Iloilo Bureau, and the Boracay Island News Network.
In the Print Media category, recognized outlets were Iloilo Metropolitan Times, Panay News, The Capiz Times in Roxas City, The Daily Guardian, Manila Standard, and SunStar Philippines. Meanwhile, the Most Supportive Television Media partners were GMA Regional TV – One Western Visayas, IBC TV-12, and UNTV Iloilo.
Individual awardees for Online Platform were Annabel C. Petinglay of PNA and Lilibeth A. French, Iloilo Infocen Manager.
For Print Media, awards were given to Jennifer P. Rendon (The Daily Guardian), Tara Katherine L. Yap (Manila Bulletin), Elyrose S. Naorbe (Iloilo Metropolitan Times), and Ime Sorial (Panay News).
In Broadcast Media, honorees included Elena C. Pabiona (Radyo Pilipinas), Joel P. Franco (RMN-Iloilo), and Merianne Grace Ereñeta (Radyo Pilipinas).
For Online Live Streaming, Christine Lunasco of ichannel and The Barkadahan sa Iloilo received accolades.
Regional Director Arwin O. Razo led the awarding ceremony, joined by Assistant Regional Director for Operations Katherine Joy Lamprea, newly hired Regional Information Officer Therese Fely Legaste, FDS Focal Person Chanderlyn Jesselle Rile, and 4Ps Information Officer Montesa Griño-Caoyonan.
In his message, Dir. Razo emphasized the vital role of the media in advancing the agency’s mission.
“Kayo po, ang mga media partners naming, ang siyang katuwang naming para maabot ang mas maraming tao at mailahad ang kahalagahan ng mga programang ito. Nais ko pong magpasalamat sa inyong patuloy na suporta at dedikasyon. Sa pagiging katuwang namin sa pagpapalaganap ng mga programa ng ahensya. Malaking bahagi po kayo sa mga pagbabago at pag-paunlad ng buhay ng ating mga kababayan,(You, our media partners, are our partners in reaching more people and conveying the importance of these programs. I would like to thank you for your continued support and dedication. For being our partners in promoting the agency’s programs. You are a big part of the changes and development of the lives of our countrymen),” he said.
ARDO Lamprea also expressed her appreciation and optimism for future collaborations.
“We are deeply grateful for your continued support—through your coverage, insightful reporting, and commitment to excellence. You have not only reported on our efforts, but also stood beside us as trusted collaborators and advocates—or shall I say, Social Protection Champions,” she said.
The annual recognition event is funded by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) under the leadership of Division Chief Belen Gebusion, with this year’s ceremony hosted by SLP Social Marketing Officer Nicole Ann Ebojo.*mgc
