THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD6) has already released a total of P91.7 million worth of assistance for victims of super typhoon Yolanda.
As of November 21, data of DSWD6 showed that the bulk of assistance in the form of relief goods was given to municipalities in the province of Iloilo amounting to P34 million; followed by Capiz with P26 million; Aklan with P12.7 million; Negros Occidental with P10.7 million; Antique with P7.7 million; and Guimaras with P68,000.
DSWD6 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre said the assistance translates to 350,555 food packs already distributed.
Macapobre said the regional office of DSWD has been augmenting local government units to provide typhoon victims of immediate assistance.
The DSWD has been able to hasten the distribution of the relief goods to affected areas due to the volunteers, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army who helped in the repacking and delivery of goods.
Meanwhile, the DSWD6 has received more than P4 million worth of donations, mostly in form of used clothing, bottled water, noodles, sardines and rice. (DSWD6/ Alma Jornadal-Estember)
