Secretary Rex says that his priorities include digitalization of services, getting rid of red tape, and to ease the delivery of social service.
“Hopefully, they can get online and then get their socials service needs. Nagbago na talaga ang mundo. We have to disrupt the way we do social welfare,” he said. Another priority, according to Secretary Rex, is to ensure that the development side in social welfare services is put back to focus.
“In order to stay relevant, in order to stay current, we have to make sure that the development is our cutting age. We will review KALAHI CIDSS (Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Social Services) and SLP (Sustainable Livelihood Program). With this, we are will be able to break dependency,” Secretary Rex said.
Secretary Rex said that the, “first order of business is to do a program review, study our programs so that these won’t go extinct. We will make sure that SLP and KALAHI CIDSS are relevant programs.”
The Secretary also said that he will work hard to give the employees what is due them as he mentioned that there are more contract-based workers in the agency instead of plantilla positions.
“I will keep on working hard to get what is due yours,” Secretary Rex said.
