Nueva Valencia student named 4Ps Exemplary Child Provincial Champion

JORDAN, Guimaras – Akiesha Kate G. Dequilla from Calaya National High School in Nueva Valencia emerged as this year’s 4Ps Exemplary Child Provincial Winner during today’s search in the province.

Dequilla received a cash prize of Php15,000, along with a plaque and a token of recognition. She also bagged two special awards: Best in Talent and Best in Interview.

Coming in as 1st Runner-up was Aleiah M. Tanaleon from Desiderio Gange National High School in San Lorenzo, who also received the Best in Production Number award and a Php10,000 cash prize. Kristel Mae N. Gellor, also from Desiderio Gange National High School but representing Sibunag, placed 2nd Runner-up and took home Php8,000.

Rounding out the top five were Ma. Carlyn Kate M. Altares of East Valencia National High School in Buenavista as 3rd Runner-up, and Marnel D. Estember of Jordan National High School as 4th Runner-up.

Chanderlyn Jesselle Rile, Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) Representative and Family Development Session (FDS) Focal Person, underscored the vital role children play in the success of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). She emphasized that household compliance especially in children’s health and education significantly contributes to the program’s overall impact.

“We must use the cash grants wisely as they serve as a stepping stone for families to rise above poverty and become empowered,” she said.
Rile extended her congratulations to the awardees and their parents for their early achievements and meaningful contributions to their schools and communities.

Meanwhile, Maricel Robles, Provincial Link from the Guimaras Provincial Operations Office, expressed gratitude to the Guimaras Provincial Government and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Shirly Gabutin for their support. She also acknowledged the efforts of school heads, coaches, advisers, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, and parents for guiding the children to become role models in their communities.//mgc
