BATAD, Iloilo – After a series of training sessions in compliance with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (TESDA) training regulations, 64 residents from the Municipality of Batad received their Caregiving National Certification during their graduation ceremony last January 26, 2023.
Funding for the training expenses of participants was provided by the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program Field Office VI under its Employment Facilitation track. SLP allocated ₱1,274,126.00 worth of training funds and was complemented by the Local Government Unit of Batad with ₱1,499,999.44 funding. The total amount covered the training fees, meals, accommodation, and transportation allowance of all participants who have completed the 99 days of training conducted by the New Lucena Polytechnic College – a TESDA-accredited training institution in the Municipality of New Lucena.
Participants were grouped into three batches and underwent training on the basic, common, and core competencies of Caregiving. National Assessment followed right after their respective training in which all participants passed and were certified by TESDA Region VI. A few of the graduates are now employed overseas, others are waiting for their schedule and some have already found opportunities in the province.
During the graduation ceremony, Assistant Regional Director for Operations Arwin O. Razo highlighted the accomplishment towards its relevance to the Philippine Development Plan specifically in strengthening the skills of the country’s workforce and increasing one’s capacity to secure employment. ARDO Razo also acknowledged the efforts of the local government unit and TESDA as partners in program implementation.
Also present in the activity were Municipal Mayor Elvira P. Alarcon, and Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Ernesto R. Balida, DSWD Promotive Services Division Chief Luna Moscoso, Iloilo SLP Provincial Coordinator Anthony Laruan, SLP Project Development Officer Shirley Anata, and representatives from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority VI.
Employment Facilitation (EF) is a track of the Sustainable Livelihood Program that provides one-time assistance through the provision of an Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) to cover pre-employment requirements of those who are expecting employment and Skills Training Fund (STF) to qualified member/s of eligible households who prefer to be trained and acquire skills for employment.###(WOOchon/SLPRPMO)
