July 16, 2021 marks a good day for 93 members of Ivisan Pedicab Operators and Drivers Association (IPODA) in the municipality of Ivisan, Capiz.
Each of them received a pedicab or trisikad unit with Starter Kits that include two caps, two neon vests, one belt bag, and Idenfication Card. The LGU of Ivisan also provided one pack of 6kgs. rice, free insurance for one year coverage, business permit for one year, and municipal plate number.
This has been possible through the provision of Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Sustainable Livelihood Program (DSWD-SLP) in partnership with the local government of Ivisan.
To better help the beneficiaries, Social Security System has also been tapped to enroll them through the SSS Alkansya Program. Beneficiaries are encouraged to save at least 14-15 pesos daily so that they can reach at least P400 monthly for their contribution. Alkansya box has already been provided by SSS and secured in a designated area.
“Ako nagapasalamat sa DSWD kag sa munisipyo sang Ivisan kay natagaan kami sang pangabuy-anan nga amon man masaligan sa adlaw-adlaw namon nga pagpangabuhi. Madamo gid nga salamat sa nagbulig sa amon nga mga pedicab drivers,” says Ronald Agar, one of the beneficiaries from Brgy. Malocloc Norte, Ivisan.
The distribution ceremony was graced by Fr. Roque Teofilo Ortencio, Parish Priest of Ivisan, and ended with a parade of newly received pedicabs around the town proper./ (credits to SLP Capiz)
