BUENAVISTA, Guimaras – An 89-year-old Nenita Arquilola of Brgy. Avila, Buenavista, Guimaras received her P6,000 Social Amelioration Program (SAP) aid through a door-to-door payout facilitated by the Pantawid Pamilya staff.
Nenita, a Person with Disability (PWD), was not able to get her emergency grant because she cannot walk. It took almost six kilometers of a bumpy ride to reach their house from the town proper.
She has been waiting for the team the whole morning while sitting to her wheelchair before the team arrived in the area. The team has been assisted by her eldest daughter and grandchildren who are living with their grandmother.
Nenita, a social pensioner, too, has personally received the money. According to her, she will buy the money for her food supplies especially her favorite native delicacy – ibos. Lola, who will be celebrating her 90th birthday next month, will also buy piglets as her gift to herself.
“Madamu nga salamat sa tanan. Ibakal ko ini ibos kag idik para sa akon birthday,” she said when asked what will she do with the money.//
