The province of Antique received a total grant of P756.7M from Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Service through the Asian Development Bank.

The P756.7 million grant covers 780 projects in the 16 municipalities. Portions of the grant are still unutilized since there are still 115 uncompleted sub-projects all over the province. Unutilized grants after the June 30, 2018 ADB closure will be returned to the national treasury.

Kalahi-CIDSS Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist Mark Catague said the biggest chunk of the grant went to the municipality of Culasi with P64.3 million. The grant was allocated from 2014 up to present for the completion of 59 projects.

The town, however has still 16 uncompleted sub-projects in the different barangays.

The 16 local government units in Antique are required to complete the construction of these projects on or before June 15, 2018. All the community accounts wherein the grants are directly deposited must be closed on or before June 30 deadline.

“For municipalities which still have unfinished sub-projects, we urge you to hasten their completion. If you fail to deliver this on-time, the LGU will shoulder all the expenses to complete these projects, he said.”

The grant was used for road construction, flood and river control, electrification, construction of school building, repair of barangay halls, bridges, churches or chapels, repair of municipal halls, multi-purpose buildings and day care centers.

The grant also covers the construction of foot paths, health stations, public markets, railings, recreational facilities such as playgrounds, seawalls, irrigations, solid waste management facilities, rip raping of sea walls, spillways, tribal housing and water systems.

It was also used for capability and livelihood trainings to empower the locals of Antique.  Pre and post-harvest facilities and other equipment were also included in the list of projects.
