The Inter-country Adoption Board (ICAB), attached agency of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), is currently conducting a capability building workshop for social workers based in Region VI.

“It is a rare occasion that ICAB came to provide technical assistance to our social workers, so grab this chance to learn and maximize your skills,” says Rebecca P. Geamala, Regional Director of DSWD6.

The participants of the activity are social workers from DSWD6 and other government branches including the Local Government Units (LGUs), Family Court (FC), and the Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Also present in the event are social workers from Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) including Child Caring/Child Placing Agencies (CCAs/CPAs).

“The training on Inter-country Adoption Program is part of ICAB’s advocacy and networking functions as well as its commitment to increase their level of functionality,” says Atty. Bernadette B. Abejo, ICAB Executive Director.

“The Capability Building Package on ICA Program aims to strengthen the social workers’ capability in handling adoption cases particularly those which will go through the inter-country adoption route,” she further added.

Finally, DSWD6 Regional Director Rebecca P. Geamala stresses in her remarks, “Child welfare service is one of the most important services that we, as social workers can give to the disadvantaged youth and children who are the heritage of this world.”/XzyrabelleServento/dswd6/
