The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD6) is releasing P62.9 million for 10,498 indigent senior citizens of Capiz province this year.
“Delivery of the stipend will be made door-to-door by Philpost,” said Gretchen Taleon of the Social Pension unit of DSWD.
The amount will be distributed to 14 municipalities including Cuartero with P3.89 million for 648 beneficiaries; Dao, P4.28 million for 713 beneficiaries; Dumalag, P2.73 million for 455 beneficiaries; Dumarao, P4.31 million for 718 beneficiaries;
Ivisan, P3.03 million for 505 beneficiaries; Jamindan, P3.04 million for 506 beneficiaries; and Panitan, P2.80 million for 466 beneficiaries.
Also includes Pilar, P4.83 million for 805 beneficiaries; Pontavedra, P2.91 million for 485 beneficiaries; President Roxas, P2.53 million for 421 beneficiaries; Roxas City (Capital), P4.23 million for 705 beneficiaries;
Sapi-an, P2.39 million for 399 beneficiaries; Sigma, P3.37 million for 562 beneficiaries; and Tapaz, P6.26 million for 1,043 beneficiaries.
Taleon said that the agency has already transferred P85 million to the Philpost which shall in turn mobilize their personnel to bring the pension of the elderly right to their doorstep.
“This is to ensure that the elderly can personally receive their pension,” Taleon added.
Last year, DSWD has targeted 69,910 beneficiaries.
For this year, the agency is targeting to reach 78, 706 beneficiaries in Western Visayas.
The cash grant is being released every first month of the quarter.
The Social Pension Program targets beneficiaries who are 60 years old and above – sickly, frail and with disability, no regular source of income nor financial support/assistance from members of the family, and do not receive pension from Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), Veterans, or Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)./Xzyrabelle Servento/dswd6
