RESIDENTS of Barbaza, Antique whose houses were totally damaged by typhoon Yolanda today received a total of P38.4million in Emergency Shelter Assistance.

Families numbering to 1,281 received the aid at P30,000 each in the distribution conducted by DSWD regional office team headed by Cleofas Remo witnessed by Mayor Gerry Necor and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Prechie Alavata.

“We are thankful that this help finally came for the people of Barbaza,” saidNecor.

Remo, on the other hand, said “May this distribution of ESA be a blessing for the rebuilding of lives and for the restoration of lost shelters so that homes could become happier, families would be safer, the elderly to have roofs on top of their heads and children to be free from danger.”

The ESA is a cash grant provided to families whose houses are either totally or partially damaged. It aims to provide assistance to families affected by typhoon to purchase housing materials for the repair and reconstruction of their damaged houses./dswd6/May Grecia-Rago
