photo relief goodsThe Department of Social Welfare and Development 6 (DSWD-6) through the Local Government Units (LGUs) released 26, 449 family food packs for families who sought temporary shelters in 302 identified evacuation centers all over the region onset of the Typhoon Ruby (international name Hagupit) that placed Northern Panay into Public Storm Signal No. 2 as of  today.

Of the 26, 449 family food packs, Aklan LGUs received 13, 000; Antique, 2, 250; Capiz, 7,916; Iloilo, 2, 400 and Negros Occidental, 883.

The DSWD’s immediate effort is in response to pre-emptive evacuation implemented by the government of families living in prone areas since Thursday. These evacuees came from 219 villages mostly located in low-lying areas and those areas susceptible to storm surges, flooding and landslide.

As of today, a total of 52, 487 family food packs are ready for distribution in different provinces all over the region.

The DSWD-6 has a total of P19.4 million standby fund for emergency procurement./dswd6/Montesa Caoyonan.
