The Department of Social Welfare and Development received P10 million additional fund in aid of areas in Western Visayas that will be affected by “Typhoon Ruby’ (international name Hagupit).
The P10M is part of the national government’s immediate response to regions that will be hit by the typhoon. The funds is apart from P9.4 million currently on standby in Region VI.
As part of its preparation, DSWD-6 had convened its Quick Response Team and Social Welfare and Development Teams all over the region as early as Wednesday.
Family food packs were already prepositioned in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz and Negros Occidental, and Regional Field Office to immediately address the needs of the affected areas.
In a meeting early this morning, DSWD management committee decided to prepositioned goods in 29 municipal local government units which is part of the list released by Office of the Civil Defense as possible LGUs that could be affected by Hagupit.
DSWD workers in the different special programs are likewise on standby in their covered municipalities to augment the workforce of the local government units during relief operations. # (Maricar M. Calubiran/DSWD-6)
