THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD) honored this year’s regional winners of the Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya in fitting ceremonies held September 5, 2014 in Iloilo City.

The family of Gemma Tanutan of Brgy. Velasco, Lemery, Iloilo bested other finalists from Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras and Negros Occidental to clinch the distinction of Regional Winner. She was awarded with a plaque and P10,000 cash.

Named 1st runner-up was the family of Jimmy and Unevel Pelayo of Brgy. Ganzon, Jamindan, Capiz. They received P7,000 cash and a plaque.

The family of Joslon and Laila Fillone of Brgy. Igparas, Sibalom, Antique ranked 2nd runner-up and they received P5,000 cash and a plaque.

“The Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya is an annual event held nationwide. This is aimed at recognizing family-beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program who religiously follow the conditions of the program, maintain strong family ties and demonstrate positive Filipino values. It is also important that the family has made a significant impact in their community,” said Joel P. Galicia, DSWD6 Assistant Regional Director.

Other finalists who were also recognized were the families of Rolly and Marilyn Sartiga of Balete, Aklan; Rogen and Valeriana Gamarcha of Sibunag, Guimaras; and Rolando and Rosalind Paragsa of Bacolod City. They each received P2,000 cash and certificates.

Present during the awarding rites were Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon and judges Rosh Villanueva and Asuncion Santiago of DSWD6, Lilibeth French of Philippine Information Agency 6, Reynaldo Salutin of PhilHealth, and Ted Aldwin Ong of Iloilo Caucus of Developmental NGOs among others.
