MOTHER-grantees of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) showcased their talents in the Family Day celebration held June 11, 2014 by the Iloilo City government and DSWD. This celebration, held yearly for the past three years now, is headed by the Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office led by its chief, Alfredo Villanueva.
More than 11,200 beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilya from all six districts of Iloilo City – Jaro, La Paz, City Proper, Molo, Mandurriao and Arevalo – gathered together at the Iloilo Sports Complex for the activity.
Villanueva said the event shows the support of the local government unit to the Pantawid Pamilya program. It also aims to provide the beneficiaries with a venue to promote camaraderie, friendship and fun.
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog graced the Family Day celebration and handed out cash prizes ranging from P10,000; P7,000; and P5,000 to the top three presenters. Consolation prizes were also given to non-winners. (DSWD6/Alma Jornadal-Estember)
