Students, employees of the national government agencies, church-based groups, barangay officials and residents are among those who trooped to the covered gym of the Iloilo Sports Complex to help in the repacking of relief goods.

TO make the repacking of family packs faster and more convenient to volunteers, the Department of Social Welfare and Development regional office has opened another repacking station at the Iloilo Sports Complex on La Paz, Iloilo City.

Volunteers who would want to help in the repacking may go directly to the Iloilo Sports Complex or to the DSWD Field Office VI in Molo, Iloilo City.

The agency decided to look for another place for repacking due to a huge number of volunteers coming to help and hasten the relief operation. Today (November 13), more students from different schools in the city like the Iloilo City National High School, University of Iloilo-Phinma, University of San Agustin, University of the Philippines-Visayas, Westbridge School for Boys, among others, troop to the DSWD office to volunteer their service.

This as DSWD continues distributing relief packs to the different provinces of the region that were affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

Records of DSWD show that as of 6:00 a.m. of November 13, there are 38,491 family packs worth P10, 046, 407 released through the local government units. More family packs are being readied for distribution as DSWD6 director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre assured the Department has enough allocation for the victims of disaster.

Donations, in cash or in kind, also kept pouring in from different institutions and private individuals./DSWD6/Wenna Berondo-Bendol
