THE Department of Social Welfare and Development has already released more than P110 million worth of family packs to typhoon-stricken municipalities in its relief effort all over the region.
As of November 22, the total number of food packs distributed to typhoon-affected families numbered to 380,505, with a total cost of P100,303,991 The figure covers from day one up to the 15th day of relief operation.
The province of Iloilo received the biggest number of food packs with 138,150; followed by Capiz with 102,553; Aklan 66,315; Negros Occidental 41,171; Antique 32,231 and Guimaras 85.
As of press time, 97 towns and cities in Western Visayas have been fully-served by the agency’s relief operation.
Based on the DSWD status of relief operations, 32 towns and cities in the province of Negros Occidental and five towns in the island-province of Guimaras are fully-served.
While in Iloilo, 20 towns are fully served especially those in the northern part. It is followed by Capiz with 16 to include Roxas City; Antique 16; and Aklan with eight towns. (DSWD/Maricar M. Calubiran)
