The Department of Social Welfare and Development regional office assured there are enough family packs for disaster survivors in the entire region. The agency has already distributed at least 28,000 family packs worth P7.4 million.
Latest records of DSWD show that 28, 415 family packs were already given to the provinces of Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental.
Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre assured assistance to more affected families. She is presently conducting an aerial survey with Iloilo Lone District Rep. Jerry Trenas, Capiz 1st District Rep. Antonio Del Rosario, and Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Alfredo Benitez to assess the extent of damage caused by Typhoon “Yolanda.”
Through the aerial survey, national government agencies would also be able to determine the needs of affected families and provide them with proper aid to enable them to recover from their present condition.
Of the six provinces of the region, Iloilo was provided with the most number of family packs with 14,956 family packs worth P3.8 million. There are 196,552 affected families or 718,768 individuals in the entire province.
Presently, there are 3,000 family packs on standby at the DSWD Regional Office that are ready for distribution to the disaster survivors.
In Capiz, 5,450 family packs were already distributed in the amount of P1,422,450; Negros Occidental, 2,502 family packs worth P547,056; Antique 3,035 family packs worth P792,130; Aklan 2,100 family packs worth P548,100; and Guimaras 572 family packs worth P149,292. (DSWD/Maricar M. Calubiran)
