The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD6) awarded the 10 regional finalists of this year’s Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya in fitting ceremonies held recently (September 24) at the Grand Tower Suites, Iloilo City.

DSWD6 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre led the awarding of the model

families who were all beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, the government’s top poverty alleviation program.

The top three winners include the family of Danilo and Sally Miaque of Jaro, Iloilo City as regional winner; Ronie and Purita Barte of Jamindan, Capiz in the second place; and Mario and Riolene Capio of Lemery, Iloilo in the third place. They each received a plaque and cash prizes worth P10,000, P7,000, and P5,000 respectively.

The DSWD also gave certificates of recognition to the regional finalists composed of Sanny and Jesusa dela Pieza of Panitan, Capiz; Rey

and Pebelyn Bautista of Sapian, Capiz; Roger and Marycris Sanchez of Altavas, Aklan; Genie Sr. and Luzvismin Bantogay of Toboso, Negros Occidental; Jonathan and Nenita Ocario of Hamtic, Antique; Ludivico and Theresa Villarma of San Lorenzo, Guimaras; and Danilo and Lerma Hidayawan of Bacolod City.

The Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya was launched last year to recognize model families who religiously follow the conditions or their co-responsibilities in Pantawid Pamilya program. It also aims to acknowledge families who embody and demonstrate the

Filipino values and strong family ties, and who made significant involvement for the development of their community, particularly along environme

ntal protection.

The winning family will be tapped to help in the advocacy efforts of the DSWD and Pantawid Pamilya program, acting as family ambassadors.

Witnessing the awarding were DSWD6 Asst. Regional Director Joel P. Galicia, Panitan Mayor Generoso Derramas, Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro Petinglay, Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Officer Alfredo Villanueva, 2012 Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya grand winner Rey and Evangeline Rodriguez, and partners from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Education, PhilHealth, Department of Tourism, Department of Labor and Employment, and civil society organizations, among others.
