PAVIA, Iloilo – The DSWD6‑4Ps, in partnership with the Local Government of Pavia, Pavia National High School, and the US Peace Corps, officially launched the Youth Development Session (YDS) Leadership Program on Thursday last week at the Executive Hall, Pavia Municipal Hall here.

A total of 22 4Ps youth leaders, composed of presidents and vice presidents of YDS groups from the 18 barangays of Pavia, actively joined the program.

Sydney Field, US Peace Corps Volunteer helped in facilitating the activity which focused in four sessions designed to enhance leadership and creativity: Invention Convention, Community Mapping, Zine Making, and Vision and Issue Identification.

During the said activity, Civil Society Organization Focal Person, Diody Fadullan of the 4Ps Division emphasized that this activity will train the youth to become leaders who know how to reach out to their fellow youth, fostering a culture of solidarity and shared growth. He added that the program will also help the youth not only to finish their high school education but to pursue college, while developing the ability to support their families.

Meanwhile, youth leader Dhazelle Mae Guto from Brgy. Maliao of the said town, shared her testimony, saying that after the training she felt more confident, responsible, and driven to do good for others. She expressed her personal goal to apply what she learned by becoming a leader in her school and community, serving as a good example to younger kids.

She hopes to help build a generation of youth with values, discipline, and care for others, stressing that programs like YDS are vital because “every young person we train today is a step toward a better tomorrow.” Iloilo-Guimaras POO
