Seizing opportunities in shaping one’s futureAt the age of 23, Bernaly Briones is starting to focus on her personal growth, career exploration, and building a solid foundation for her future.
For her, trying new things, making money, and enjoying work experiences are shaping her perspective.
Bernaly’s openness to exploring new horizons, earning money, and enjoying her work experiences is shaping her perspective on life and her career path.
Her experience with the Cash-for-Work Program for Students, Universities, and Colleges (CFW-SUC) significantly broadened her outlook.
When she saw the opportunity posted on her school’s official Facebook page, she eagerly grabbed it, recognizing it as a chance to learn, discover new skills, and earn an income to support her daily needs.
Bernaly is currently working at the KALAHI-CIDSS Regional Program Management Office, where she and other beneficiaries are responsible for filing and organizing project documents.
Her tasks align with her Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, which she graduated with honors (cum laude) in June 2025. Her prior internship experiences also helped her adapt to her current responsibilities.
Despite her young age, Bernaly exudes independence, having overcome significant challenges early in life.
Orphaned paternally during high school, she was supported by her hardworking mother, who raised their family with dedication.
Bernaly is proud to have graduated alongside her four siblings, with the youngest still in 1st year of college.
For Bernaly, earning her first salary was a fulfilling milestone—she even shared it with her mother, symbolizing her gratitude and the strong bond they share.
Bernaly hopes that the government will continue its CFW-SUC and Cash for Work for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). It can help students and graduates earn income after graduation.
The temporary jobs have molded students and graduates in the real world in the workplace. It is always important to pay attention to details when instruction is given. One must look for ways and have initiative, she says.
Bernaly’s journey reflects resilience, ambition, and a commitment to building a brighter future through hard work and perseverance. And appreciating the government’s initiative in bringing development to different sectors./dswd/mmc
