A total of 67 chilldren with cerebral palsy received customized wheelchairs from DSWD Field Office VI recently.
“We are happy to provide this resource augmentation through wheelchairs to these kids. Every Person with Disability deserves to have better accessibility and mobility wherever they go to ensure their mainstreaming in the society,” said Asst. Regional Director for Operations Delia Villa-Bagolcol of DSWD Field Office VI.
The activity was conducted during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities held in Iloilo City.
It was a collaborative work of the Regional Committee on Disability Affairs (RCDA) VI, Physicians for Peace, UP-PGH Manila, Walk and Work Foundation Inc., The Church of Latter Day Saints, Philippine Airforce, Provincial and City Social Welfare and Development Officers and Persons with Disability Associations.
Also present were Department of Health (DOH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Education (DepEd), Child Initiative, Philippine Information Agency (PIA), GMA Network, Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Officers of the Regional Federation of Persons with Disabilities
Further, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Iloilo presented its programs and services to PWDs during the COVID-19 Pandemic./dswd6
