85,318 families get SAP second tranche

A total of 85,318 family beneficiaries from Bacolod City and Iloilo Province started receiving their Social Amelioration Program (SAP) second tranche today.

These consist of 75,926 beneficiaries from Bacolod City and 9,392 from Batad, San Rafael and Lemery in Iloilo.

“We aim to complete 80 percent of the target for second tranche by July 31. DSWD had to do the payout to fast track the releasing,” said Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre, Regional Director.

The plan was to distribute the second tranche through digital wallets, however, Director Macapobre said that the partner Financial Service Providers cannot handle the volume of transactions because of the bulk of beneficiaies that DSWD is serving.

“Thus, we decided to conduct the distribution of the second tranche with DSWD directly doing the payout. This means faster releasing of the second tranche of SAP cash grant na batid nating matagal nang hinihintay ng mga pamilyang apektado,” Director Macapobre said.

The other towns of Iloilo Province as well as Iloilo City also have their respective schedule.

Belen Gebusion, team leader for Negros Occidental, says that the payout has been smooth so far.

Barangays 31 and 14 in Bacolod City, for instance, showed excellent observance of health protocols such as Social distancing, wearing of mask and handwashing.

ADVISORY TO BRGY. FELISA BENEFICIARIES

Meanwhile, Gebusion said that payout for other barangays of Bacolod shall be tomorrow until Saturday.

In Brgy. Felisa, payout has been rescheduled due to typographical error in the payroll.

“ The payroll has been corrected already by the Regional office and payout shall proceed on the 25th. Hence, we appeal to dismiss wrong speculations as to the movement of the schedule. It was because of a typhographical error,” Gebusion said

For the beneficiaries, receiving the aid brings a sigh of relief.

Rhea Flor Segundo, 25, of Brgy. 33, Bacolod City, is a mother of two children.

Married to a vendor, the SAP is a big help for their family. “We can now pay for the rent of the room that we are occupying. Sa tunga sang krisis, makapiyan-piyan gid ini. Madamo nga salamat,” she says./dswd6
